Therapeutic Recreation Hiking
Get your steps in while making new friends around WNC! Please make us aware of any mobility concerns at time of registration so staff can best accommodate your needs. Participants will need to pack a lunch, water bottle, and clothes comfortable to move in! All hikes are between 1-2.5 miles with variable terrain.

Time: 10:00am-2:00pm
Location: Meet at Oakley Recreation Center (749 Fairview Road), we will provide transportation to the site. If you would like to meet us at the site, please arrange with TR staff prior to event.
Age: Open to individuals ages 18+ with disabilities - participants who cannot meet eligibility requirements can attend with a 1:1 worker. You must register for 1:1 workers/staff who will also be attending for our overall headcount.

Essential Eligibility Criteria for all programs:

Each participant must:
- Have the ability to follow program rules, communicate with others in a respectful manner, respect personal space of others
- Maintain personal care needs independently or with the assistance of a companion, excluding the program instructors (including administering medication, toileting, and feeding)
- Be able to understand basic communication
- Demonstrate basic social skills (interact with peers)
- Be able to work in a group setting of 12 to 15 people
- Not have a history of violence against themselves or others

The LRT/CTRS is unable to provide one-on-one supervision. Participants that do not fit meet essential eligibility criteria (EEC) may be able to participant in a program if they have their own CAP or one-on-one worker.
